This summer promises to be fun for sports lovers, as the Dubai Hatta Sports Day is taking place worldwide. Residents and tourists can enjoy a wide range of fitness and family-friendly activities, from hiking to tug-of-war and many indoor games. The amazing part about this annual community sports event is that it is for all ages, aiming to encourage physical fitness in a mountainous environment.

Background:

Hatta is essentially a region in the Al-Hajar Mountains in Dubai, previously known as Hajarayn. After 1980, it became a mountain retreat for UAE residents and tourists, allowing them to escape the coastal heat. To make the place more attractive for tourists, the mountain dams and trails have started promoting indoor and outdoor sports activities, including hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, archery, and yoga.

Following the significant attention from tourists, the Dubai government in 2016 decided to launch a DH 1.3 billion plan to develop Hatta, aiming to establish it as a world-class destination for tourists, which would in turn boost the UAE’s economy.

Hatta Sports in 2025:

Hatta sports are going to be organized again in 2025 as a part of “Our summer is sporty”. Every year, almost 6000 participants enroll in Hatta Sports Dubai.
