RTA Unveils Dhs786 Million Project to Alleviate Traffic Congestion

RTA Announces Dhs786 Million Bridge Project to Ease Traffic in Bur Dubai and Dubai Islands
Exciting news for Dubai’s traffic flow—Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has just rolled out a new project aimed at making your daily commute smoother. The latest development will create direct access points from Bur Dubai to Dubai Islands, enhancing both connectivity and traffic management.
At the heart of this project is a massive bridge that will span across Dubai Creek, connecting the Infinity Bridge and the Port Rashid Development Area. Stretching 1,425 meters, the bridge will have four lanes in each direction, designed to handle up to 16,000 vehicles per hour. Rising 18.5 meters above the water, the structure will also feature a 75-meter-wide navigational channel, ensuring smooth passage for marine traffic.
With a price tag of Dhs786 million, this ambitious project is all about supporting Dubai’s ongoing growth, reducing congestion, and improving the daily travel experience for residents and visitors alike. The bridge will be a key piece in Dubai’s vision to improve transport efficiency and ease traffic in some of the city’s busiest areas.
Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is taking major strides to improve traffic flow in Dubai with a newly awarded project to create direct access points from Bur Dubai to Dubai Islands. This initiative is designed to support the city’s ongoing development, meet the demands of urban growth, and improve movement for residents and visitors alike.
The centerpiece of the project is a massive 1,425-meter bridge crossing Dubai Creek, featuring four lanes in each direction and the capacity to handle up to 16,000 vehicles per hour. The bridge will rise 18.5 meters above the creek and provide a 75-meter-wide navigational channel for marine traffic.
But the improvements don’t stop there. The project will also include a dedicated pedestrian and cycling track with elevators at each end, making the bridge accessible for everyone. In addition, 2,000 meters of surface roads will be constructed to connect the bridge to existing road networks on both the Dubai Islands and Bur Dubai sides.
This project is part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to improve Dubai’s infrastructure, following last year’s announcement of upgrades to roads in 19 areas and another recent upgrade to enhance access in key neighborhoods like Nadd Hessa, Al Awir 1, Al Barsha South, and Wadi Al Safa 3. These developments are all aimed at easing congestion, improving traffic flow, and making the daily commute easier for everyone in the city.
Stay tuned for more updates as this major project progresses!
