Eid Al Adha 2025: When is the Next Eid Break?

The next big public holiday in the UAE is Eid Al Adha 2025, and it’s set to bring a long weekend!

According to current predictions:

  • Arafat Day – Thursday, June 5, 2025

  • Eid Al Adha – Friday, June 6 – Sunday, June 8, 2025

That means a 4-day break (if you count Thursday) is coming up! Mark your calendars and start planning your holiday! 🌙✨

Eid Al Adha 2025: When is the Next Eid Break?

We’re in the middle of Eid Al Fitr 2025, but if you’re already wondering about the next public holiday in the UAE, here’s what you need to know.

The next break will be a double holiday: Arafat Day followed by Eid Al Adha.

📅 Predicted Dates (Subject to Moon Sighting):

  • Arafat Day (Dhul Hijjah 9) – Thursday, June 5, 2025

  • Eid Al Adha (Dhul Hijjah 10, 11, 12) – Friday, June 6 – Sunday, June 8, 2025

That means a 4-day break (if Thursday is included) is on the horizon! 🌙✨

However, some UAE astronomers predict Arafat Day might fall on Sunday, June 16, 2025, depending on the moon sighting closer to the time. Final dates will be confirmed as we get closer. Stay tuned for updates! 📢

What is Eid Al Adha?

Eid Al Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most significant Islamic holidays. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) devotion to God, demonstrated by his willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to a divine command. According to tradition, as Ibrahim prepared to carry out the sacrifice, God intervened, sending a sheep to take his son’s place as a symbol of mercy.

Eid Al Adha Holidays in the UAE

Both public and private sector employees typically get a few days off for Eid Al Adha. However, as with all Islamic holidays, the exact dates depend on sighting and will be officially confirmed closer to the time. 🌙✨

What Happens if UAE Public Holidays Fall on a Weekend?

As per Resolution No. 27 of 2024, if a public holiday (other than Eid holidays) falls on a weekend, it may be moved to the beginning or end of the week, depending on the UAE Cabinet’s decision. This means that if a holiday like Islamic New Year, Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday, or Commemoration Day falls on a Friday or Saturday, it could be shifted to a Sunday or Thursday to extend the break for employees.

Key Points:

  • Eid Holidays: These holidays are fixed according to the Islamic lunar calendar, and cannot be moved, even if they fall on a weekend.

  • Non-Eid Holidays: If they fall on a weekend, the Cabinet can move them to the start or end of the week to ensure employees get time off.

  • Local Governments: Local authorities can also declare additional holidays for special occasions or specific reasons for their government departments or institutions, as outlined in the resolution.

This gives flexibility to ensure long weekends and more time off for everyone, even if the official holiday coincides with a weekend.
