Ramadan: What is it? 🌙✨
Ramadan is the holiest time of the year for Muslims worldwide and the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is a sacred period of fasting, prayer, and reflection, commemorating the revelation of the Qur’an to the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
Key Aspects of Ramadan:
Spiritual Importance: Muslims believe that the Qur’an was first revealed during Ramadan, so many Muslims try to memorize it all.
🌅 Fasting (Sawm) – One of the Five Pillars of Islam, fasting requires abstaining from eating, drinking, and smoking from sunrise to sunset.
🕌 Extra Prayers – Tarawih prayers are performed nightly, and each evening, 1/30th of the Qur’an is recited, allowing many to complete the entire book by the end of the month.
Ramadan is a time of self-discipline, generosity, and devotion. It is also a time for reflection. It’s a chance to get past past mistakes, build faith, and focus on doing good deeds. Fasting during Ramadan is observed by millions worldwide as an act of worship and spiritual renewal, making it one of the most important months in the Islamic calendar.
